  Cattedrale di San Sabino

  Situated in the heart of the city’s historic center, this cathedral is an excellent example of Romanesque architecture and a key site in Bari’s ecclesiastical history. The Cattedrale di San Sabino is renowned for its Romanesque architectural style. The cathedral was originally constructed in the 11th century, during the Norman period, and was dedicated to San Sabino, a local patron saint. The building has undergone several modifications and restorations over the centuries, particularly following damage during World War II.

  Bari Vecchia is characterized by its maze of narrow, cobblestone streets and alleys. The layout reflects its medieval origins, with streets so tight that they often seem to wind into each other. Exploring these winding paths reveals hidden corners and picturesque views, offering a sense of walking back in time.

  The area features traditional whitewashed buildings with small balconies and colorful shutters. Many of these houses are adorned with flower pots and have charming facades that contribute to the district’s historical ambiance.
